Happy Independence Bahamas! In light of Independence Day, this weekend is filled with fun, exciting activities; Mario Carey Realty is here to break them down for you. The National Art Gallery will be featuring Duke Wells’ “ The Bahamian Collection” tonight at 6:30pm to 9:00pm. Come view this beautiful, first time, series of black and white portrait photography. These portraits embody the Bahamian spirit and will blow you away. The event is free and open to the public.
The whole family can enjoy this Friday evening. There will a Cartoon Network Character Parade at Marina Village; the kids will absolutely love this. The parade starts at 6:00pm, and will be the same time next Wednesday evening. Another fun Independence Day event is The Down South Tree Planting and Flag Raising Ceremony. This event starts at 6:00pm and will be at The Bethel House – Bahamian-American Museum.
For those early morning risers, the 242 Color Run is this Saturday at 8:00am. The start and finish is at Montagu Foreshore, and you can register for the race at Harbor Bay Sports Center between 4:00pm and 6:30pm today and tomorrow. There is a Bahamian Craft Fair and Business Expo at RM Bailey Park this Saturday from 10:00am to 6:00pm. Another active event—Bahamas World Cup—is at Winton Rugby Field. The tournament starts at 1:00pm, registration begins at noon, max number of players per team is nine, and it costs $150.00 per team registration. Shirts will be provided to the players. Towards the end of the evening, the Bahamian Icon Awards will begin at the Sheraton Hotel. Cocktails start at 7:00pm and the award ceremony begins at 8:00pm.
No one should be bored this Saturday because there are more events to come. The Blue Caviar restaurant is hosting a French Bastille Day that is going to be a blast. The event starts at noon and goes past midnight. The restaurant is serving unique, exquisite, French dishes all afternoon. Le Patio, which is connected to Blue Caviar, will have champagne and Canape from 3:00pm to Midnight. Then, later in the night, Le Patio will have a Moulin Rouge costume themed party.
