Get your green on this Friday at 9:00am for “Shrinking the Global Divide.” The College of The Bahamas Culinary and Hospitality Management Institute (CHMI) is hosting a Synergy, Service and Sustainability conference from September 18-20th at Atlantis. Friday night is going to get hot and heavy as the “Believe In Yourself” night of entertainment kicks of at 3:30pm. Don’t miss this night of fun, dancing, prizes, and much more. Dance teams from throughout the community will be competing for cash prizes with professional dance judges critiquing them. There will also be the EpicfoRealz local celebrity basketball game featuring street ball entertainers from The Bahamas and the United States. The show is at the Kendall G.L. Issacs Gymnasium . General admission tickets costs $6.00; these can be bought at any sports center or at the door.
For those interesting in immersing yourself into the Spanish culture for an evening, head over to the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas this Friday at 7:00pm for “An Evening in Barcelona.” Dress is smart casual (Red, White, Yellow, Black) and admission is $30.00. Part proceeds go to The National Art Gallery and The Commonwealth Writers of The Bahamas.
Now, for the event many of you have been waiting and training for—The Potcakeman Triathlon. This is a sprint distance triathlon consisting of a 750m swim, 21km bike ride and 5km run. After the race, a Puppy Tri kids race made up of a 100m swim, 5km bike ride and 1km run will take place. Everyone is welcome to come out and cheer on their friends and family! Money raised from the event will go towards Baark’s spay/neuter and education programs all over The Bahamas.
The race begins at 8:00am and parking is limited, so get there early to get a good view. Mario Carey Realty (MCR) is a proud sponsor of the race. Mario Carey and Colleen Carey, MCR’s Marketing Assistant, will be competing in the individual triathlon race. They both hope to see you out there supporting a great cause!
Don’t forget the Triathlon’s after party—The Gandza Potcake Party. The party begins at 3:00pm at Green Parrot, East Bay Street. Everyone will be celebrating Ron and Jill Gandza – An extraordinary couple who brought happiness to many Bahamians, people and potcakes. Bring your potcakes, family, and friends to celebrate the lives of Jill and Ron Gandza, and the amazing work they did for animals in The Bahamas.
Everyone that is not exhausted from Saturday’s race, head to Café West (Caves Village) at 6:00pm for a showcasing of Bahamian Clothes and Accessories. Support your Bahamian youth designers with fun, fashion and fundraising. Dress code is cocktail attire and tickets start at $75.
You can also get your community service in Saturday at 6:00pm by attending Rotary Club of East Nassau’s Wine Tasting Party. Tickets begin at $25 and include wine tasting, nibbles and a $10 rechargeable wine tasting card!
Last but not least, for the Partiers looking to have a splendid evening of food, drinks, and dancing check out Blue Caviar Restaurant’s (Next to Old Fort) “Back to the 80’s Party Dinner.” The food and wine dinner begins at 7:00pm. The “Flashback to the 80’s Music” starts at 9:00pm and ends when the last person is finished on the dance floor. Prizes will be awarded for the best Costume!
