It’s Friday; it’s the weekend; and it’s time to have some fun. This evening there is a “Careers That Change Lives” event celebrating International Day of The Girl. The College of The Bahamas is hosting the event at the American Corner, 2nd Floor of Harry C. Moore Library. All girls, women and ladies are invited! Be there at 4:30 to hear panelists talk about their career paths, converse with young women, and give you insight in career opportunities. The United Nations International Day of the Girl is on October 11th. So go out early and start celebrating this day of women.
For those looking for a grand chuckle this evening, and Saturday evening if you wish, head over to Atlantis’ Comedy Club at 9:30pm to see Craig Robinson perform. Craig Robinson is an American actor, stand-up comedian, and singer. He is famous for several movies and shows: The Office, Pineapple Express, Miss March, Zack and Miri Make a Porno, Shrek Forever After, Hot Tub Time Machine, and This Is the End.
Saturday morning, join Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photowalk. Five photographers from multiple cities around the world are coming together to have fun, take photos, and learn from one another. The photowalk will focus on the Potter’s Cay Area and begins at 6:00am. Another early morning event is the Walk/ Bike a Thon in aid of Brenda Albury. Ms. Albury is in critical condition and needs emergency heart surgery. For those looking to support one of your community members, please head out to Fort Montagu Saturday morning at 6:30am to help, walk, or bike.
A second way to give back to the community is participating in the Rotary-Bed Race for Polio. At 12:00 pm, there will be a blood drive at the Western Mall at Marathon hosted by The Bahamas Rotary blood mobile. Not only can you give blood, but there will be fun for the kids, food, drinks, and a lot more!
And a third way to give back to the Bahamian community is by attending and supporting the Ranfurly Home’s Annual Grand Raffle. Go out and enjoy fun with the kids beginning at noon. The Raffle drawing begins at 4:00pm, so be sure not to miss your ticket being called. Tickets are $1.00 and are available at Scotiabank Main Branch, Solomon’s Super Center, Kelly’s Home Centre, Mario Carey Realty, and the Ranfurly Homes for Children. Later in the evening, Pianist Ah Ruem Ahn is performing in the Nassau Music Society Concert. See Ah Ruem Ahn play at St. Andrews Kirk, Prince’s Street at Peck’s Slope (opposite Central Bank) from 7:00-7:30 pm . You can also see her perform on Sunday at St. Paul’s Church Hall, Lyford Cay from 5:00-5:30. Advanced Tickets for members of the Music Society are $25.00 .
