In efforts to help build, preserve and restore sea corals inside the beautiful Bahamian waters, Baha Mar recently installed state of the art, eco-friendly, artificial reefs on the Cable Beach shoreline. It is clear that the Mega Resort not only, has plans to improve the Bahamian economy but also and most importantly, preserve it’s environment.
Recently, forty-eight reef balls and three hundred and twenty coral antlers, were installed several feet away from the Cable Beach shoreline. Chief Operating Officer at Baha Mar, Paul Pausateri mentioned in an interview that implementing innovative business practices that respect the environment are just as important to Baha Mar as investing in opportunities for people. Even so, the COO is proud of the resorts sustainable efforts to encourage reducing energy consumption and water conservation.
In addition to Baha Mar’s environmental preservation efforts, the national environmental movement Save The Bays is also on a mission to include other non governmental organizations in aid of building awareness and progress to the environmental protection and preservation. The group launched a program aimed at, “replenishing coral reefs by undersea farming and forestry”. Their project included planting corals and other supporting sea forests along the southwest coast of New Providence and Andros. For more on this project , click here.
It is always good to know that someone is looking after the environment and its future. Today many countries and governments battle with decisions that try to segregate the importance of the environment versus the economy. The Bahamas is fortunate to be on the forefront on the fight to preserve the beauty of the environment. Kudos to Baha Mar and Save the Bays in the their aim to impact the Bahamas in a positive way.
Baha Mar’s opening date is set for December 8, 2014 and the Mega Resort isn’t wasting any time. With over 400 hectares along one of the beautiful shorelines in the world. The 3.5 billion project will be home to the largest casino in the Caribbean and notably a “…distinctive melding of world-class hospitality and authentic Bahamian culture through our four distinguished brands: Rosewood, Mondrian, Grand Hyatt, and a dazzling newcomer, The Baha Mar Casino & Hotel.” In our proud partnership with Baha Mar, Mario Carey Realty was the first local real estate agency to sell units at Baha Mar.
