On April 3, 2013, Tropic Ocean Airways departed the first international night flight from Bimini to Florida in the island’s history! Tropic Ocean Airways is a Fort Lauderdale and Miami based seaplane airline owned and operated by a U.S. Navy top Gun fighter jet pilot. The airline has been active in providing commercial seaplane services in and out of the island. They have also operated Resorts World Bimini’s seaplane flights since August 2013 in addition to seaplane services existing in Bimini.

Tropic Ocean Airways hosted a grand event to capture this momentous occasion. Attendees at the event included various members of the Bahamian government, including Prime Minister Christie and the Chairman of Resorts World International. The seaplane was parked prominently behind the stage during the ceremony. After the ceremony ended, onlookers stood back and watched history in the making. A small group of travellers boarded the seaplane and made ready to leave for Fort Lauderdale, Florida. As depicted by The Bahamas Weekly, the travelers included Rob Ceravolo, CEO of Tropic Ocean Airways, along with Nick Veltre, a Marine Corps veteran and co-owner of Tropic Ocean Airways, climbed into the cockpit of the amphibious aircraft and departed Bimini with Resorts World employees onboard, thus completing the first international night flight to Fort Lauderdale in Bimini’s history.
